‘Hydra’ is a Telstar trimaran built by Sandwich Yachts (UK) circa 1977 in GRP (glass fibre) and is one of around two hundred Telstars. The design allows for five berths and up to 6′ headroom. In addition to the standard coastal cruising range, the centreboard and lifting rudder allow for a wider range of cruising in shallower waters, beaching for BBQs or a drying mooring.
The folding mechanism for the armas (floats) offers a reduced footprint for winter storage and allows the boat to be road trailerable. There is a roller furling headsail system, a Honda four-stroke outboard engine for auxiliary power and a twin axled yard/road trailer for storage, this would be used for road transport at the new owners’ discretion and risk.
The internal upholstery has recently been replaced. There have been no modifications made to the standard hull structure/design, the bracketry for the folding arma mechanisms has been replaced in stainless steel. The usual pre-season servicing work will be required together with the fitting of a brand new mainsheet traveller/track system.
