1979 poacher 22 cat rigged ketch.Ready to launch, go sailing tomorrow! This is a lovely boat, easily sailed single handed, fully prepared for launching. She comes on a fitted break back trailer, to which I have fitted new wheel bearings and tyres along with fully cleaning the hubs and servicing the brake internals. You could tow her anywhere! (Given the right tow vehicle… ) As a sailing boat she is lovely, with twin aluminium freestanding masts she is easy to rig with 2 people, the lack of standing rigging keeps costly rig maintenance to a minimum and makes single handed sailing very easy.the lack of heavy booms or headsails make tacking and gybing easy and safe.. she is sprightly on the water, surprisingly fast, and extremely rewarding to sail. If I didn’t have 2 young children and no time I would definitely be keeping her. She has had significant work done whilst in my ownership with a lot of necessary prep work done over the last month for her new owner. I have serviced aspects of the trailer to make it reliable, new bearings, cleaned hubs and new tyres mean it can be used to tow her anywhere without fear of bearing or tyre failure, I have completely stripped the grotty old lumpy antifouling from the hull, sanded to 80 grit then she has had 1 coat hempels underwater primer and 2 coats of hempels 2 pack antifouling to prepare her for the water.. This work should ensure that yearly antifouling will be a lot easier as new coats will be able to be rollered on directly without issues of peeling patches and horrible lumps developing.. she has had 2 automatic bilge pumps fitted and a depth sounder, all powered off a small motorbike battery, this has only ever needed charging once a season as the power demands of the hardware are minimal and the bilge pumps have never really been needed. I have resealed the toe rails, and the decks have had 2 coats of deck grip paint applied. All the rigging is good, and she comes with everything necessary to get her on the water. There are 2 identical sails, both are old but still hold a surprisingly good shape, the rig depowers naturally so the sails haven’t been overstressed. Sail covers, for when she is on a mooring, All the relevant ropes, Topping lifts, halyards, sheets and downhauls, along with various heavy lines for mooring, and a large anchor with chain, 4 fenders,Sail bag,Rudder,Nice custom stainless steel rudder stock,2 windsurfer wishbone style booms, both with adjustable outhauls,A 3.5hp 4 stroke long shaft mariner outboard with about 30 hrs max use. this outboard suits the boat very well. Ultra reliable and hard to get hold of.. 2 masts. These split in 2, and have stowage built into the trailer. All In all she is a delight. If you like sailing and wish for a little daysailer she is perfect. Her topsides could do with a repaint, and the interior is very basic and could do with a paint and some covers on the foam mattresses,(she will come with 5l off white bilge paint) but she is an honest boat that could be launched immediately and enjoyed from the off. Being 40 yrs+ old she will always need a bit of maintenance but is in remarkably solid condition with no structural issues at all. All together she weighs about 850kg, as the hull and deck are balsa cored she is not a heavy boat. If interested please message me, I’d be very happy to tell you anything you want to know. £2500 OnoJust outside Helston, West Cornwall
