This is my Trapper 500, I have owned her for over 6 years and due to an impending new arrival to the family I have to put her up for sale. I bought the boat with the intention of taking her on a long trip, I completed that last year after travelling across the channel, through the French canals, into the med and then all the way back via Spain, Portugal and the Bay of Biscay. I spent a long time getting her ready but could have still spent more time sorting things out. I will try and get everything written below to give you a full idea of her condition at the moment.ElectronicsRaymarine Multifunction Display A67 (new 2016)Raymarine AIS 450 (new 2016) with Navionics charts installed (last updated 2017)Raymarine Radome Radar (new 2016) -Fitted to mast but when I installed it I had to strip the outer cable casing off, whilst threading it down the mast I must have snagged it somewhere so never got it workingClipper GPS repeaterAutohelm DepthAutohelm Speed -this has developed a fault where it only displays the water temperature, it may be fixable but I have not had the time to look into itClipper Wind SpeedAutohelm auto tillerEPIRB (new in 2016)Raymarine R49 VHF radio -VHF antenna cable replaced in 2017Tri-colour mast head light fitted 2017Bi colour, Steaming and stern lights fittedHouse battery new in 2016Engine battery new in 2016NASA PC Navtex Pro USB -this was working fine with my laptop until the aerial must have come loose and went overboard, another aerial is about £30 but the unit in the cabin should be fine.Switch panel replaced 2016Engine and propYanmar YSE8 8hp with a 3 blade prop -New starter fitted 2017 -The engine is running and has never failed me but could do with a service at least, it has now done over 1900 hours since it was rebuilt in around 1999. It does take a while to fire up if the boat has been through swell, I could never find the problem and the engine always ran eventually -stern gland replaced in 2018 with a Tidesmarine shaft seal with a water pick up from the engine, this has run for several hundred hours with no issues.Sails & RiggingThe sails are ok to sail with but getting tired, the genoa’s UV strip is starting to come away in a couple of places. There is a jib that is in good condition and I have never used as well as two spinnakers. The running rigging is a bit mixed, i have replaced some of it over the years. I replaced the standing rigging in 2014 so should be good for another 5 years. I replaced the roller furler in 2017 with a Plastimo 609s and had to replace the forestay at the same time. The clutches for the roller furler and the jib sheet cars have lost most of their grip and could do with replacing (double on starboard and a single on port) The lines have been lead back to the cockpit and I was able to sail single-handed without too much bother.OtherThe 30m anchor chain was replaced in 2013 and is still serviceable along with the CQR anchor. The Seago 4 person liferaft, bought in 2015, is now in need of a service.I installed heating before my trip using with a Webasto water heater with a feed from the diesel tank which pumps water through two house radiators. It keeps the boat nice and toasty even in the coldest weather, we were on the boat in -5 degrees and kept warm. It’s also great for drying towels and warming socks. I have shown the heater unit and one of the radiators in the pictures.I replaced the cooker in 2015 with a Neptune 4500 which has oven, grill and burners. This runs from Campingaz. I replaced the gas pipe in 2016.The galley was refitted prior to me owning the boat with a larger galley similar to a Trapper 501Water tank is a flexible Plastimo type, 60 litresHorseshoe buoyThe covers on the cushions are the orginals, there are a couple that are starting to disintegrate but the rest are ok, if a bit dated. After spending many nights sleeping in the V berth I would recommend replacing them at some point as they have never been that comfy. One of the original problems with Trapper 500s was the stanchion bases cracking the deck over time around the base, one of these was reinforced before I got the boat, the rest I did before I went on my tripThe boat will need antifouling and the boot line also needs redoing. I had painted the topsides before going away with International Perfection but it could do with another coat after all the miles. The boat is currently moored on a swinging mooring in Langstone harbour on the Portsmouth side, paid for until the end of March next year. The boat would be great for someone planning a longer trip, I lived aboard her for over 6 months in one stretch as well as travelling over 4000NM. It has been fantastic, if I had a choice I would keep it forever but I have I haven’t got the time to spare to sail and have to be realistic, the kids take priority. I have tried to give a fair description of “Gee N Tee”, if you have any questions at all please let me know.
