For auction with 99p start and no reserve.Micronesian Proa in need of a lot of TLCThis has been an ongoing project of mine which I started three years ago with the intention of making an expedition canoe for sailing round the islands of the west coast of Scotland. She is constructed of 6mm WBP plywood covered in twin layers of woven fibreglass mat. As she has pretty much been a work in progress for most of the time, she was only partially lined inside with chopped strand mat.She is 24 feet long and the width to the edges of the outriggers is approx 11 feet. The outriggers are 16 feet long when bolted together. The Proa was designed to be disassembled and will fit into an 8 foot by 4 foot trailer or into the back of a standard Transit style van with ease. The longest parts are the two outrigger booms which are 11 feet long, the rest are all 8 foot sections. As I mentioned she is in need of a lot of TLC as the winters have been harsh on her and she requires some replacement decking on the gunwhales, some remedial work on a detached outrigger strut (see pics) possibly some more glassfibre around the other outrigger strut fixing points and a good sand down and coat of paint.Sadly I am no longer fit to finish her as a heart attack and a permanently blocked cardiac artery mean my days doing pretty much any kind of work are over.I hope she can find someone who will finish her off and put her to the use for which she was originally built. She will carry 3 or 4 adults with full camping gear and supplies quite comfortably and she was originally set up for sail (using windsurfer mast and sail) electric or small petrol outboard, or good old fashioned paddle power! Sail available if requiredShe doesnt have a trailer so you would need to bring your own.Happy Bidding
