Wanderer 14’ Sailing Dinghy build by Anglo Marine in 1999. Constructed of GRP. Finished in original gelcoat: white decks, dark Oxford blue/white hull with white pin striping.
Hull / Sail Number 1447 : Complete with original builders certificate and handbook. This version benefits from already having Integrated centre board casing reinforcements needed for the optional (not inc.) steel centre plate.
A great opportunity to own this much loved and well maintained sailing dinghy. This is a very reluctant and heart wrenching sale resulting from a number of changes in personal circumstances
Presented in excellent all round condition; sound decks, floor and hull with no damage to the underside. As with almost every boat there are some very minor signs of general wear & tear from normal use but this is expected and unavoidable. The combination trailer is in excellent condition and benefits from having launch recovery arms, a detachable jockey wheel and boat winch. Most of the Ropes, sheets and control line are new. This boat wants for nothing and is ready to tow away and sail!
Aluminium Proctor Spars. The mast is hinged which makes for easy stepping. Dolphin sails Main & Jib in good condition. The tailing cover is new, purchased from Banks sails. The boom over cover is quite old but still serviceable. A short mast is included which allows the boom cover to be used without the main mast in place. The rudder blade is made from wood, finished with Epifanes varnish and has an aluminium stock which attaches to a Holt tiller with extension. A new storage bag is included. The centre board is the hinged lifting type, also in good condition.
The Wanderer is perfect dinghy for family sailing, learning to sail as well as the more experienced / adventurous sailor! Forgiving features such as the removal inflatable mainsail head float & slab reefing system and roller furling jib make this a safe and manageable boat in more pressing weather conditions. The headsail float and foam filled boom help prevent a full inversion should you be unfortunate to capsize.
The rig and hull design make this a very forgiving & versatile boat which works great at your local lake sailing club or out on the sea. The large aft storage locker and forward storage box make it ideal day tripper boat for exploring estuary creeks.
Though originally rigged with traditional transom mainsheet this boat has been converted to the more modern and much preferred Centre Mainsheet system, which is now standard on the new Wanderer. The custom Centre Main mount has been professionally fabricated from 316 stainless steel and looks fantastic in the cockpit. The original transom system is included and can easily be re-fitted fo those who prefer this method of sheeting. A topping lift system (which holds the boom up without the need of the mainsail) and single line reefing lead aft has also been neatly installed.
A detachable and very sturdy transom mounted basket allows for a small outboard (2-3hp NOT included) to be carried whilst the large aft locker is designed to house an outboard, which again adds to the versatility of this dinghy. A set of wooden oars are also included which is another very practical and useful feature.
This is do all ‘Swiss Army knife’ boat, one that can be sailed, motored (Outboard Required) or rowed. Manageable enough for single handing as well being able to take a family of four out for the day. Learn to sail, go creek crawling & exploring or gear it up for club racing with the optional (not inc.) Spinnaker kit. A Steel Centre plate (not inc.) can even be added for additional stability on the sea.
