Wanderer sailing dinghy – project boat or spares.
Somewhat naively I bought this Wanderer without viewing it and with the intention to restore it. Unfortunately due to a change of circumstances and the extent of work that needs doing I now need to let it go.
I started to have it professionally refurbished and to date the decks and tanks have been cleaned and polished, the boom out haul and slab reefing lines replaced, the genoa and main halyards replaced along with sheaves and shrouds fitted and a new rudder stock is provided.
The work that still needs to be done includes replacement of the thwart, new floorboards and rudder blade, replacement toe straps and refurbishment of the centre board. In addition, extensive work is required to the hull and topside – the rear quarter has been impacted as can be seen from the second photo; there are barnacles on the bottom that need removing and there is a further impact on one side which I am told looks like it has come from scraping a concrete buoy or similar. I’m told that a sample area of the hull has managed to polish up. Due to Covid I’ve still not seen the boat and I am sure there may be other issues with the hull or structure, so viewing is strongly advised (I say with some irony). There is no cover or road trailer and the sails are present but tired.
I’ve spent £700 on the refurbishment costs to date and am listing for the same amount or nearest offer. The boat is in Emsworth, Hampshire – Collection in person only and as mentioned, you will need a road trailer. Sold as seen.
