A true classic, Westerly 28 fin keel for sale, only around 40 were ever built, and I know of only 3 others remaining and one of those is in the USA, so come and grab a piece of history. She has given us much joy and satisfaction over the last 2 years and after carrying out a full mechanical refit she is being offered for sale. The previous owner had to replace the engine and chose a Perkins Perama M30, a 3 cylinder 29hp diesel which is extremely frugal on fuel. Also fitted with twin 30 watt solar panels.We acquired the boat in September 2018 and set about a complete refit of all other areas of the yacht taking us through the winter and on till March 2019. The hull was double buffed and polished to reveal any issues. The transom was refinished and a bathing ladder added. Both sides of the hull were touched up as necessary and so were the coachroof and upperworks. The fin keel was completely stripped back, touched up where needed. The rudder was removed to gain access to the cutless bearing housing and the propeller removed. Rudder was touched up, propeller was cleaned and polished, cutless bearing was replaced as was the bearing housing which had to be fabricated. All was then reinstalled with new bearings and washers all round. The cockpit drain valves were replaced and all other underwater fittings replaced or refurbished. The hull was then treated to two high quality coats of primer and two high quality coats of antifoul. The yacht then returned to the water and the engine, transmission and shaft were fully realigned. New control cables were then fitted.The no1 genoa had a new UV sacrificial strip fitted and the two mainsails were checked over. The storm jib and spinnaker also checked. All sails were then laundered and a new sail cover was fitted.All interior fittings were checked and tested and a brand new fridge plate was fitted to the existing coolbox. Also, a new Nasa depth, speed and log was fitted.Receipts for over £5000 are held for this yacht in the last 18 months and she has always been kept by us in a marina berth alongside where she can now be seen. She has Garmin GPS and a VHF DSC Radio set. Also has some extra’s like tender with outboard bracket and oars plus auto helms which can be negotiated.All that is left to do is to complete the interior to your own personal liking.The reason for selling is we have purchased another boat.We can be contacted on 07956227224 for more details.
