This is my lovely little
yacht TENDU. She’s a Westerly Jouster
Fin Keel. I’ve had her around 5 years and had enormous fun sailing up and down
the coast. Sadly I now have a serious illness that has prevented me from
getting back out on the water and I reluctantly admit defeat. I just want her
to go to a good home.
21ft LOA. 7’6” Beam with 4
full berths. Outboard bracket. She has no through-hull fittings so she’s
completely clean down under. A fast, dry and weatherly boat, she has taken me
through some tough blows and never felt overwhelmed. She can turn on a
sixpence, so I named her TENDU. Built in 1972 and laid up very thick with GRP.
Westerlies are built to last and this one certainly is.
I’m passing her on with all
the kit that’s ready to make her sail:
inboard fuel tank for outboard motor, radio, table, battery (might need
to check it though), cooker, gas bottle, porta potti, etc. All lines and fenders, etc. I have an
outboard motor for separate purchase.
Because of the illness I
haven’t had the chance to keep on top of her recently but nothing more than a
few days work on a nice Spring weekend. She’s ready to sail now, but a few
things I would do to get her ready:
Lift out and spray off
underside.
Probably needs a coat of
antifoul.
Port window needs a little
bit of mastic I think.
New fender or 2.
Things I would do long term:
Sprayhood is a little frayed
in parts, as is the sail cover.
UV Strip on the Genoa needs
replacing.
Some running lines are aging
now.
New mooring lines.
Small section of rubbing
strake to replace (it’s been like that since I had the boat).
Pullout/replace inner
headlining of main cabin.
Re-tune rig tension.
Re-paint the cockpit tops.
I was going to fit a solar
trickle charger, new DSC Radio, and re-wire the cabin and sailing lights for
LED lighting.
This will make a great
starter boat for a young family or keen dinghy sailor looking to step up to sea
sailing. A super weekender boat, snug and safe.
I’m putting this on with
minimum reserve. I just want her to go to a good home and provide more fun to
another generation.
Mooring fees paid until April
2020. Laying Newhaven Marina.
Thanks Simon.
