This Windrider 16 named “Windsong” is a trimaran for one helm plus up to two passengers. It could also carry a small child seated in front of the helm if you rigged up a seat. Trimarans are designed to sail flat, ie there is no “hiking out” and therefore may be suitable for the less agile person. The polyethylene rotomolded body is robust and designed to be driven up onto a beach of shingle or sand. The keel is inbuilt and the boat sails and recovers essentially flat. It is designed for launching from a beach into the sea, in-shore or for a large lake, estuary or reservoir. It will sail close to the wind. I have given fast dinghies a chase in a strong wind. The sail can be furled around the mast in situ though I have not done this.It requires two adults to launch and then can be sailed solo or carry passengers on either of the trampolines to which I have added additional optional bucket seats for comfort. The helm has had an extension added to the tiller which means it can be steered either by your feet inside the main hull or by hand and from the trampolines if desired. A passenger can be handed the tiller to steer if they want to be more involved but the helm would normally retain hold of the main sheet. The hull is designed to cut through waves rather than ride above them and therefore it can be a wet ride. There is an optional moulded splash deck and an additional transparent windscreen for heavy weather or rough seas, never used by me.A built-in bilge pump is present but I never needed to use it. The outriggers (amas) are connected to the main hull by substantial aluminium tubes (akas). This is a substantially built boat and requires two adults to launch and recover though only one to sail it.You are invited to come and inspect before purchase. There are surface scratches, one imperfection to the rear of the splash deck as shown in one of the pictures, caused by excessive heat damage, a coke bottle or similar acting as a magnifying glass. The hull is otherwise unaffected by sunlight. The hull is free of stress cracks so far as I am aware. A launch trolley and a heavy duty unbraked road trailer are included and valued at several hundred pounds on their own. The road trailer has nearly new tyres and has indespension type suspension. It is a little rusty in places where it has been used in the sea and not washed down. It was originally designed for a much heavier boat and has been adapted with side stantions for this trimaran. You will need to supply your own lighting board, connecting cable and straps to tie it down.Viewing is possible by arrangement, location Croydon. Trial sails are not available. The trailer is secured with a wheel clamp (not included in the sale). There is an excellent Windrider Group on facebook see facebook.com/groups/37151069560 which has a useful files section and videos. An operating manual is included.Parts can be obtained from nickelsboatworks.comI have no idea what year the boat was made. Ebay forced me to guess a date and I plumped for 2000.Contact the seller if you require any specific questions answered.
