Fully keel to mast restoration, including:Removing all existing bulkheadsStripping hull topsides and below the waterline, of all paint back to the gel coatRemoving all wiringRemoving original Lombardini engine, and electrical Removing original fuel tank and batteries and all wiringRemoving original deck hatches and portlightsRemoving original Genoa tracks, winches and mainsheetRemoving all fittings from transom, back stay, exhaust outlet etc for a cleaner smoother lookOnce the boat was a bare shell, I then started to rebuild her over time, no expense was spared in this process, using only the best materials no matter the cost. Diolen, west epoxy and carbon fibre where appropriate. Along with only using two pack epoxy coatings and copper coat under the waterline. The first job was to reinforce the hull structurally, and so I started on the outside, by grinding out any stress cracks in the gelcoat with a dremel and repairing all stress cracks with epoxy filler (international 830 then regained with 833)Once the hull was strong, I started to fair the hull with 2 pack epoxy filler, and a flexicat tool fairing system, the tools alone cost £380 but give a mirror perfect finish if used right. I used two types of filler I started with inter I’ll 830 then moved down to interfill 833 and did it many times to achieve the perfect finish. Once the hull was faired to perfection I applied EA9 2 pack epoxy primer under the waterline then 8 coats of coppercoat. (Coppercoat is guaranteed for 10 years, but many people achieve over 20 years from one application and so it saves greatly in the long run on winter storage ashore, and re antifouling) on the topsides I applied 9 coats of undercoat followed by 12 of topcoat all international 2 pack epoxy. I reapplied a final coat of topcoat this year (2019) to get the real shine out of it. I painted the decks and cockpit in interdeck white, and fitted mahogany bright work all around the hull, and deck fittings, this included;Cap railToe railCockpit trim I rebuilt the companionway to accommodate a spray hood, and so rebuilt the steps in solid sapele, the same as the bright work mentioned above. All wood on the hull is sapele and varnished in two pack epoxy. I then fitted new deck fittings, including harken Genoa tracks and cars, garhauer custom made rigid boom vang, garhauer mainsheet system and harken downhaul. Harken backstay tensioner fitted to a custom made stainless chainplate I designed and made for the transom. Two Barlow self tailing winches in the cockpit and harken cheek blocks for the Genoa sheets. I also repainted the cabin top, replaced all deck hatches f]and fitted new rutgerson opening port-lights along the cabin at £590 each. The finish is a very beautiful and truly unique looking boat that will sail faster than most 40 foot yachts frequently, but at the same time is highly stable and easily sailed single handed, in fact I have won many races single handed in this boat due to its ease of use and stress free nature. Inside I removed the original engine bearers and made new ones to accommodate a bigger and smoother engine, out of American white oak, bonded to the hull from epoxy. I then had two custom made thrust brackets made to accommodate an aqua drive unit, that eliminates any engine vibrations from the hull, and then bought a brand new Volvo D1-20 Diesel engine with the uprated alternator and brand new heavyweight hurth gearbox. The boat now drives at 7 knots at only 2400 revs and is nearly silent and vibration free.To balance the boat I replaced and relocated the original 20 lite]res fuel tank from the transom with a 98 litre tank in the salon which makes her more balanced, faster and can cover over 490 miles now on one tank. The engine has only two seasons of use since new. I also have a spare push button control panel for it that will come with the boat. To celebrate the new engine I bought a new Volvo polished stainless throttle lever for the cockpit it cost £490 but is well worth it as it looks stunning. For complete new build feel, I replaced her rudder bushes this year also, and in doing so, I had a spare set made up for in twenty years time if she may need the job done again it can be done easily without all the measurements I had to take to get these perfect. The interior has two long settee berths in the main cabin, dimable LED lights, a separate aft cabin for the heads, a separate aft cabin for two, and a large fore cabin bunk measuring 2.7 meters long by 2.4 meters wide, all with new memory foam mattress cushions throughout. The forecabin mattress is 15cm thick and very comfortable after a long sail. The look of the boat is retro as she is a half Tonner racing boat at heart but with the sapele cap rail and new hull finish she looks very modern and classical at the same time. She gains many admirers any where she sails. The new sails have no numbers on them to maintain her clean lines, and the new spray hood all new inn2018 in black along with the new stack pack give her racing lines a clean and modern edge. I have attached some pictures on this boat, and the work that has gone into it, to date I have spent over £97,000 on her, with receipts, and had many successes at my local yacht club racing. She is an absolute joy to sail, and is fast, stable, and very easily sailed single handed.Materials:Robbins Super Elite Plus Lloyd’s A1 sapele veneered plywood sheets x 34 @ £118 per sheet = £4012 in plywood alone (receipts attached)West System Epoxy £119 (per 5 litres) x 22 = £2618Kevlar Tape 200m x 2.5 per meter = £500Paint £5150 (i have all receipts)International Perfection (2pack epoxy) Snow White x 10 litres £1250International Undercoat (2Pack epoxy) white x 15 litres £950International Primacon Primer (under waterline) 5 litres £250International Interfill 830 (filler) £350International Intrefill 833 (filler) £290EA9 epoxy underwater primer 5 litres £190Coppercoat (copper fused epoxy antifoulig) £980Interdeck (white deck paint) £24 x 20 = £480International Perfection Plus Varnish (2 Pack epoxy) £600I also made my own epoxy filler with granules and pigment for wood and other repairs, all filler is epoxy based on the boat. Electronics all new in 2018B&G compassB&G depth, speed, wind transducersB&G Vulcan 5 Chartplotter (mounted in cockpit)B&G triton3 instrument (mounted in cockpit)All wire is tinned marine grade, including in mast and throughout the boat.NMEA 2000 backbone Interior switch panelExterior switch panelNEMA fuel gauge (cockpit mounted, with backlight)Three autohelms, Ray marine st1000Ray marine st2000+ (still in original box, unused)Navico autohelm Interior Alpine Bluetooth double din stereo and 50w speakersiPad Pro, 12 inch connected to all B&G equipment and stereo And sailsteer (mounted in salon)Blake’s Lavac 12v electronic toiletLed lights fitted throughout cabin, galley, heads and forecabin and aft cabin.12v usb water[roof charger x3 in cockpit LED masthead tri colour nav lights and anchor lightsHandheld cobra marine waterproof, floating VHF (unwanted present!!?) brand new in box.Water systemFlojet 12v galley pump new in 201970l fresh water tank new 2019Aqua source clear water filter 2019New stainless designer and led taps in galley and heads 2019 New sink in heads 2019Radar reflector and transom ladder also included. Skin fittings all serviced annually with Blake’s Lavac grease, (a full tin will come with the boat to maintain this level of upkeep) and fitted on epoxy reinforced solid wood hull pads for leak less use and a perfect operation.Blake’s Lavac Taylor Bronze 1.5 inch heads outlet 2017Blake’s Lavac Taylor Bronze 3/4 inch head inlet 2017Blake’s Lavac Taylor Bronze 3/4 engine inlet 2017Blake’s Lavac Taylor Bronze 3/4 inch sink drainage outlet 2019I have receipts now for over £97,000 not including the original price of £4500 and most of this was spent in only the last four years, I have attached some of these but all can be provided should they be required. Nothing but the very best has gone into the restoration of this yacht, and she gives back nothing but the best in performance, ease of use and pure sailing enjoyment.
