The Seadog 30 offers a seaworthy design and a robust
heavy-displacement construction sturdy enough to cross oceans yet a relatively
shallow draught. The Seadog class is especially renowned for its seaworthiness
in heavy conditions. A ketch that is surprisingly quick and safe with a deep centre
cockpit protected from the worst of the weather by a fixed windscreen, wheel
steering and masts fitted in tabernacles so they can be lowered if necessary.

One of 27 “Deep Sea Dogs” with a full GRP keel, Pea Green is
in good condition for her age and ready to sail away. Built in 1973 and
commissioned in 1975, she has been well maintained throughout her life.  Currently ashore for inspection within a secure
boatyard in Whitby, North Yorkshire, she can be viewed with 24 hours’ notice.

Accommodation

With a theoretical maximum of five berths, Seadog 30’s actually offer
four very practicable berths, with good privacy for the two aft cabin
occupants. In common with the majority of her class sisters, the aft cabin’s
single berths have not been converted to a double berth in this example, but
easily could be if required.

The Main Saloon features two single berth/settees separated by a
double leafed, folding table, mounted on a half bulkhead between the galley and
the saloon area. The forward bulkhead incorporates two closed and two cave
lockers (with the starboard one dedicated as a drinks locker) to either side of
the doorway to the forward cabin. The Saloon is well lit by the relatively deep
toughened glass windows to either side of the coachroof, with a small,
translucent opening hatch over the table. Each bunk is provided with a reading
lamp and the cabin is heated by a gas heater which does require upgrading to
conform to current standards.

A folding Chart table is located immediately to starboard of the
companionway. The chart table’s surface folds easily to reveal a dedicated
chart storage drawer. The main 12V DC distribution board is fitted above, along
with a fixed VHF unit.

Opposite the chart table and to port is the U-shape Galley, providing
additional security when at sea. A fully gimbaled two burner gas cooker with
oven and grill is located against the port side. Storage consists two
top-access lockers and a bulkhead-mounted unit above a stainless steel sink. A
further shelved locker and four drawers provided beneath work top level.
Freshwater is manually pumped from the storage tanks in the keel. The depth of
window, combined with its level above the galley make for good views from
within the galley.

A forward cabin offers the separation and privacy for a relatively
generous sized heads compartment comprising a Lavac sea toilet and basin to
port with manually pumped fresh water. The cabin also has an overhead opening
hatch to foredeck and forward storage area with shelves along each hull side.
