Fortuna IIIHillyard 28′ wooden cutter 7 ton. Built 1931 and on the Hillyard Register.Advertising for the estate of the owner, therefore the following description is mine and any prospective purchaser should satisfy themselves as to its accuracy as no warranty/garantee is either given or implied.There is no available survey, so your own inspection is required.Recognised as a sister ship to the “Nancy Blackett” (Arthur Ransomes’ yacht) Fortuna III has become available for purchase due to sad and unforseen circumstances.Currently on the Hard at Watchet Harbour and easy to view.Unusually, for a larger Hillyard she is transom sterned and was originally a mast head sloop.The hull appears sound and water tight but is currently in primer and needing topcoat and anti-fouling.Topside woodwork has been oiled rather than varnished and is generally presentable.Interior is sound but in need of attention and retains most of its original fittings. She has full standing head room, no heads are fitted.Currently cutter rigged with retractable furling gear fitted to bowsprit and a tabernacle stepped mast.Traditional red sails in useable condition.Engine is said to be serviceable and is a Bukh 20 twin.Good useable cockpit tent/cover.Mast butt end has a split but this could be easily repaired.Bowsprit requires attention, this could easily just be replaced.The only real point of concern would seem to be the rot to the deck in the area as shown in photos. The deck has been sheathed, but exposed in this area for assessment. Further work will be required.Harbour fees for April 2018 onwards will be due on purchase (currently £206 pm).If she is not sold soon then she may well be broken up and the estate cannot afford to keep her for long and she will suffer is left on the hard for the summer.Please feel free to contact me through ebay for more details (such as I can supply) and to arrange viewing by appointment ONLY.
