Hi and welcome to my auction for this lovely 1960’s speed boatThis is believed to be a “Bristol” that originated from Bristol Boats in Saltford. The chap who ran the boatyard, Charlie Sheppard, ran a car garage and then went on to make boats and was part of the Bristol docks racing scene. If you Google the history he retired in 1978 after trying a couple of unccusseful attempts to franchise his boats, and I believe this is one of them. The makers plate is long gone but it displayed the “Bristol” name and described it as being built under franchise.Bristol Boats is still running as a chandlers in Saltford Bristol and they did offer to take a look at the boat and confirm its heritage. I have never taken them up the offer but it would only take a photo and an email.I bought this as a winter project but I’m a wooden boat nut at heart and try as I might, I can’t find the enthusiasm for her – Ive found another project in wood. She comes as a bare boat with four seats – not original and a windscreen PLEASE NOTE THE TRAILER IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE SALEThe seats are aftermarket and will do, fairly intact but some of the hinges need re-attaching.The windscreen has a slight crazing effect on the curved edges and I was going to use this as a template to make another, it’s only perspex. The boat has a manual bilge pump and holds rain water well. It’s structurally very sound, the hull has been spray painted and the top has been rubbed down almost ready for paint. The floor of the boat is the profile of the hull so you can either make it flat with marine ply or step in seat bases. I was going to put in two bench seats – as an idea?Any questions please feel free to contact me on “07912o6117o” This would make a very quick boat, I planned to put an old 40 mariner on it (short shaft)Kind regards Simon. Oh, collection only when you part with your cash.
