It’s time to let Elsie go. She’s had little use over the last few years and will make an ideal lock down project ready for the summer when we are let out again. I’ve set the starting price well under the value of the 30hp Yamaha 2 stroke oil injected engine which is hanging on the back which is in perfect working order with steering and controls. Relatively new high speed prop (Apparently you can get slow ones) so you’re getting a free boat and trailer. The boat is complete but will need some work / tidying. Please read below. The steering wheel needs fixing on. It’s just a drilling and screws job (which will probably be done before the sale if I get half an hour on it) Upholstery. The seat squabs and side paneling are basically ply wood with foam and vinyl stapled to them. The ply has rotted so needs replacing. The vinyl will go again or you could re upholster completely. I’ve ripped the carpet out. You could choose to replace it if you like. I’ve kept the manky one for a pattern.Control mount. Someone in their infinite wisdom has mounted the controls on MDF which so sort of like weetabix when it gets moist so I have no idea why they thought it suitable for a speedboat. Needs a nice bit of marine ply or some aluminium to mount it to. Seats are not fastened in and there are quite a few holes in the deck where they’ve been fastened in previously. Either need to find a good bit of deck or repair with a sheet of ply or glass over it, depends how fussy you are. She would benefit from a coat of t-cut or a buff. I’ve done a small bit and it comes up like new. She’s currently benefiting from a bit of patina. Good points. She’s not a ski boat but will pull a small, experienced skier out of the water nicely, or alternatively can pull a flat bloke onto his face and drag him through the water at such a speed he’ll think his face is going to fall off. It has a ski rope for this very purpose but I’d throw it away if I was you. It takes a bit of getting onto the plane but will pull a donut with two fat blokes on. Flat out on a canal with no waves she will do 32, sorry 4mph 😉 Included are everything you need to go boating. A 7 gallon fuel tank, an anchor and a length of thick rope. A bit of thin rope on the front for if you remember to tie it up which also doubles up as a strap for holding your ankles together for an added challenge when trying to launch her in shallow water. A lock key for canals. A pair of oars for when you discover how long 7 gallons of fuel lasts the hard way. A set of bellows for cleaning the engine out with fresh water and running her on dry land. It has a bung in the back to let the water out when you’ve finished boating. This can, if desired be put back in before you take the boat into the water but it’s not half as interesting if you do. She’s sitting on a very nice little, well maintained trailer with a spare wheel and winch. She’s usually held on to it with a small strap which has gone walkabout, so if you buy her you’ll need to bring one. I have loads in my van which is locked away currently. The trailer board is also included.
