This is our Dateline Bounty (18’) speed boat.We have owned it for about 18 years and had lots of fun time
with it until about 8 years ago. Due to age, agility and new projects it
stopped being used. The boat was stored indoors for 5years and was then moved
outside where it has remained since.I uncovered it at the weekend, the first time it has seen
the sun is several years. It is obviously a bit dirty/dusty. Water also got
through the cover and has caused a bit of damage (as listed below)These are some of the points worth noting:The engine is a two stroke 135HP V6 Mercury Black Max
outboard. It has oil auto feeder and two reservoirs, one header tank in the
engine and another under the back seat. The engine was running fine the last
time it was out and I have no reason to believe it would not run well following
a service. It has not been run for at least 8 years. I took the cover off of it
and saw that 2 plastic tubes (oil feeders) have become brittle and
snapped/shattered. This has caused the oil from the header tank to leak out. I
imagine these parts will cost less than £5 to replace. The engine cannot be run
without these parts (as no oil would get through). The rest of the engine,
cables and pipes all appeared fine. Personally I would like to get it serviced
prior to running it again. I would think we did about 100hrs per year with this
engine, so not a great deal. It was regularly serviced and maintained whilst in
use. I also have the manual for it. The ply board that supports, forms the bottom of, the rear
seat has rotted with the water ingress. It will need replacing. The old one
could be used as a template for a DIY project.Generally things need sprucing up. The dash clocks need
replacing/rewiring. The rev counter and temp gauge were working fine. It has a
bilge pump that also worked previously. The front seats are “ok” but would
benefit from a going over. The gear shift/throttle were all working correctly
and cables fine. The fuel tank is installed in the nose of the boat with a
filler cap on the top. I believe it holds 50/60 litres. The boat cover is torn at the rear. It can still be used and the
buyer is welcome to it. However it is tatty and dirty. As you will see from the pictures it has a stainless steel
wake board tower fitted. I put this on to use with the wakeboard. It is very
good but weighs a lot. It will come with the boat but could be removed to sell
on. They are expensive. The boat also comes on its single axle galvanised trailer.
Again I have no reason to believe this would not function correctly. It was
fine the last time I towed to boat. There are a couple of sets of skis (including children’s
learner skis) and an older knee board that will come with the boat. I also have
some impact buoyancy jackets and tow/ski ropes that I will also chuck in.I believe this will be able to be used straight away with a
bit of minor work. However it would be ideal as a project to restore it. I have been honest in these details and have tried to give a
proper description of how I see the boat. If you have any questions please do
not hesitate in contacting me. Viewing is welcome and the boat is stored at
premises very close to jnc 28 of the M25 (Romford/Brentwood, Essex). I work
full time so it will have to be around that.As you will see I use Ebay a lot and my feedback is a
reflection of my integrity. I expect the same in return. The boat is up for a
realistic price, however any sensible offers will be considered. I will not
split this sale up.
