Spirit speedboat approximately 14ft in length. Mercury 70bhp 2stroke 3cylinder outboard engine, Trailer.I have owned this boat, engine and trailer for 10 years. I bought them as a package/setup and am selling them as a package/setup. It will need some work before it can be used again but I don’t have the time or inclination to fix it up myself and I need the space, hence I am selling it as a project. I am selling as a package/setup and will not sell the boat, engine or trailer separately. Boat: The labelling and motives tell me this speedboat was made by Spirit, apparently a UK manufacturer. It is for sure an old speedboat but I’m not sure of the exact age. I’d describe the condition of the hull as fair to good for what is an old boat but you should view the pics and/or come to view it for yourself and make your own mind up. The deck seems solid (no sagging when you stand anywhere inside, the floor seems very firm). Designed to seat 4 people but the seats are in very poor condition (rotten – see the pic of the seats) and I have removed them but I do have them and they come with the boat. The previous owner fitted Teleflex steering which is still smooth to turn. A previous owner added some sort of skiing tow-pole in the rear of the boat. Engine:Old Mercury 70bhp 3 cylinder 2 stroke, I believe this is an early 80’s engine. I’m going to say this is a none-runner because the last time we went to use the boat which was a few years ago I couldn’t get it started. It would turn over, occasionally attempt to fire, maybe run for a second but then cut out. I don’t know what it will take to fix it and I don’t want people coming to play with the engine or try to get it started here… I just want to sell the boat, engine and trailer as the package it is. I am happy for potential buyers to assume (probably correctly) that the engine will take a lot of work and £’s to fix. There is no battery, I removed that just after my last attempt at using the boat and fitted it on a caravan I had at the time. There is a 20L portable fuel tank that I haven’t pictured included with the sale. Trailer:The trailer is in surprisingly good condition in general. It is galvanised but a previous owner had painted it anyway, the paint on the trailer now looks patchy and flaking but the metal all seems solid and strong. The metal mudguards are in good condition, I put my 18stone weight on them to climb into the boat. The winch winds but the winch ratchet isn’t working (the winch freewheels), I think there’s a spring missing from the ratchet mechanism. This never bothered me because I could still use the winch for winching and once I’d finished winching I tied the boat to the trailer (which I’d do anyway even if the winch ratchet worked). The trailer doesn’t have a jockey wheel at the front, it only has a fixed position small (jockey sized) wheel. Again not something that ever bothered me because the trailer is very light at the front with the boat on it, so it’s just as easy to manoeuvre the boat on the trailer by picking the front of the trailer off the floor as it would be to use a jockey wheel (and it will still roll forwards and backwards with the fixed wheel at the front). I have changed the wheel bearings several times in my ownership and the last time I used the boat was on fresh water (river Ouse) after which I used the grease-gun but I’m not sure what condition they’re in now because the last time was a few years ago. I can’t remember if I ever changed the tyres on the trailer, even if I did it will have been around 8 years ago so they will need changing anyway (due to age) even though they seem to look OK and hold air. You will need to bring your own lighting board to take the boat away. I realise that unknown condition of wheel bearings and age of tyres may be off-putting to potential buyers who might otherwise have travelled a distance to collect the boat. I may yet (if I have time) come back to this listing and update status of those items, because obviously if I were to fit new wheel bearings and tyres it could be towed any distance with confidence. But I’m not saying that I will change bearings or tyres so unless I update this listing to say any different please assume that the wheel bearing condition is unknown and tyres are old. Terms: Sold as seen, listed as a project setup that will need work (and it will need work). If you bid you bid to buy, not to come to view then decide whether or not you’re going to buy. None-showers and time-wasters will be reported. I prefer any bidders to come and view the setup before bidding. I will accept bids from people who haven’t been to view the setup but only if those people are willing to bid purely on the basis of the pictures and the single word description ‘PROJECT’. I have tried to describe this accurately but your mileage may vary and I will not put up with excuses of ‘not as described’… Pictures don’t lie and ‘project’ is exactly what it is. The winning bid is the winning bid, please don’t expect to haggle the price after placing a bid. Do not bid at all unless you agree with these terms. If you bid you are legally agreeing to these terms. Buyer to collect within 7 days of winning the auction unless otherwise arranged in a phone call. The winning bidder to pay at least 10% of the winning bid within 24hours of the auction ending. All payments including the deposit by bank transfer or in cash. I prefer good communications with all bidders and prompt good communication with the winning bidder at the end of the auction – It is a bit of a stretch to take anyone serious who does not have a few questions during the auction and it doesn’t inspire confidence in winning bidder’s intent it they don’t get in touch soon after winning the auction. My phone number is 07816237240. Please only phone calls, no txt messages and no Whatsapp messages. Call me between 930am and 8pm any day of the week. This is a ‘sold as seen’ and ‘project’ listing, no return accepted. You are welcome to come and view but we will not be fitting a battery, connecting a fuel tank or doing any engine diagnostics/work. I have said the engine is a none-runner and will need fixing, anything engine related that turns out to be better than that is a bonus to you. I am civil, polite and well mannered but I don’t have much time and I don’t want people coming to tinker with it perhaps in attempt to reach their own diagnosis of what it will take to fix the engine. Again – my phone number is 07816237240, you can call me any time between 930am and 8pm any day of the week. I sometimes miss phone calls due to being busy… If I miss your call please leave me a voicemail message and I will call you back. Please do not txt message or Whatsap me, I find txt/Whatsap messages from Ebayers tend to come from messers/chancers/dreamers and I ignore them.
