Turn-key 17ft 1970s Ray Stapley Hawk classic powerboat / speedboat. This classic race boat was
the subject of a complete renovation in 2015. The work was carried out by a specialist classic boat restorer with experience of these and Tremlett hulls. The work carried out (invoices available) included the following:-

The tyres are new, with a wide tread for stability and new bearings fitted. The trailer lighting is fully submersible. The refurbishment
costs, without the engine, exceed £6,000. List price of the engine is almost
£7,000. Photographs of the restoration and bills for the work carried out are available. Since the
refurbishment the boat has been entered in Classic Motor Boat Association (CMBA) events and handles exceptionally well, is stable at speed and will do about 60mph. The motor has done less than 10 hours and remains in as new condition. Used sparingly; the boat has been cared
for by a CMBA committee member (who owned the 1958 ChrisCraft Barracuda, sold recently here). When not
on the water, the boat is garaged and remains in excellent condition, as the photos show.
The boat also comes
with six special Taylor Made low freeboard fenders, mooring ropes and a basic dust cover.
This is a
very special, great looking and usable fast classic wooden boat. They were used for inshore powerboat racing and ski racing during the 70s, often powered by 6 cylinder Mercury outboards. It does need some skill to drive fast and safely, so is not for the faint hearted. YouTube has footage of similar CMBA boats running at speed. These boats, along with Tremletts are rare to find these days, given their original purpose and construction, but this is a great boat with all the very expensive work done. It is easily towable by a
medium sized family car. The
boat is viewable in Christchurch, Dorset. Please contact me should you
wish to view and I’ll put you in contact with the owner. For any European buyers; the ferry port of Portsmouth is within 1 hour
drive to Christchurch (77km) and the ferries run to Cherbourg from Poole
(18km from Christchurch).
