Very Rare Vintage 1920’s 12ft Single Step Hydroplane + Watermota Outboard Engine. ‘Barn find’ boat was in a poor state after being left unloved for over 60 years in a shed. It was and extensivley restored to a high standard in the early 2000’s, and has since been in storage. The boat has NOT been back in the water since restoration. Mahogany side planking (original centre planks), double skinned bottom. As much as possible was kept original. The deck (which has been replaced in high quality marine ply), was completely missing and has been fitted with some artistic license as the only photograph of the boat in use shows it without the deck fitted. Makers plate states C.T.LEWIS BOATBUILDER PORTSLADE. The boat is 98% complete, with only a few items to be reattached, all of wich are included. The outboard is a Watermota form the 1930s and I belive that it is a Speed 11 model. This has only been restored cosmetically and has not run for many years. My grandfather, whose boat it was, told me that it would run with the minium of effort of restoration. The boat was originally brought to West Wales by the Author Richard Hughes ( he wrote A high wind in Jamaica) and belonged to him before he sold it to my grandfather. Very rare, Ive looked many times to find another Hydroplane like this and I have never come across one. Local pick up only from Laugharne, Carmarthenshire. Make me an offer! It has to go as the space is needed!!
